Prof. Edward Rozinsky

  •  Edward Rozinsky is a natural teacher. From a young age, he was driven to share his knowledge, whether it was a piano etude, ballroom dance, or mime technique. Later, he organized the first pantomime group in his hometown.
  •  While studying at the Leningrad Institute of Theatre, Mr. Rozinsky led a mime company, training young artists who later became the core of the internationally acclaimed mime-clown company Litzedei (“Jesters” in English). Several of his students went on to achieve global recognition as mimes and clowns, performing with prestigious organizations such as Cirque du Soleil. Notably, his apprentice Slava Polunin, creator of the critically acclaimed Slava’s SnowShow, recently appeared on Broadway.
  •  Following his studies in theater arts with the esteemed stage director and educator Georgi Tovstonogov, a student of Konstantin Stanislavsky, Edward Rozinsky deepened his expertise in stage movement under the guidance of the celebrated professor Ivan Koch.
  •  At a time when mime was still a novelty, Edward Rozinsky developed a professional program and taught mime at the Leningrad Theatre Institute. Soon after, his first book, The Silent Art, was published, and his expertise as a stage director, stage movement instructor, and choreographer became widely sought after.
  •  In 1979, Mr. Rozinsky emigrated to the United States and quickly embraced the opportunities of his new life. He choreographed movement scenes for multiple off-Broadway productions, directed and performed in a variety show, and taught acting and stage movement at a modeling school in New York.
  •  Since 1983, Edward Rozinsky has served as a Professor of Physical Theatre at the University of Miami, where he designed a comprehensive program encompassing Essential Stage Movement, Period Movement, Stage Unarmed Combat, Stage Fencing, and Mime.
  • Published in 1988, Essential Stage Movement earned positive reviews from educators in the field. As image- and sound-recording technology advanced, Mr. Rozinsky created a Virtual Course in Stage Movement, which has served as an invaluable resource for thousands of actors, choreographers, and movement teachers over the years.
  •  Prof. Rosinsky's recent textbook, Essential Stage Fencing, provides a structured approach to the safe use of weapons on stage, further extending his contributions to actor training and stage movement.
  •  By teaching and coaching the Actor's Movement method across many institutions, Prof. Rozinsky has helped generations of professional actors in Russia and the United States develop and refine their natural psychophysical abilities.
  •  In addition to his teaching, Mr. Rozinsky remains actively involved in directing plays, writing scripts, and performing both on stage and on camera.
